Ponytails with Pony-O: Thick Hair
Let’s start off this blog with #relatable facts only thick hair gals would know:
- Half of your time in the shower is allotted to washing your hair.
- Conditioner bottle is empty before shampoo bottle.
- The clogged drain.
- If you DON'T blow dry your hair it’ll be damp the whole day.
- If you DO blow dry your hair, not only is it time consuming, it also feels like arm day at the gym afterward!
- The amount of hair in your brush is insane.
- Extra time and money at the hairdressers because of your hair thickness.
- Etc., etc., etc. We could go on, but you get the picture!!
Here’s the scenario: You have extremely thick hair. You’ve tried every single hair accessory available on the market, and not a single one was able to hold that thick and heavy hair of yours properly for a long period of time. Unless you wear three of them. Then they either sag, give you headache or just snap because your hair is sooooo massive and weighty! It’s exasperating! Hair ties, elastics, scrunchies and barrettes — they’re just not mighty enough to match your mane. It’s a constant battle between you and your thick hair, so choose your weapon wisely.
On that note, let’s talk about the Pony-O. How can this product change your life?
It won’t be gone in a snap
Comparing Pony-O to elastics is like comparing night to day. It just isn't the same! Pony-O bends, it doesn’t stretch, which means it shapes to YOUR hair type, and holds whatever is inside! You don't have to worry about getting that last wrap of the elastic around your ponytail! Unlike conventional hair ties that can’t handle your thick hair, Pony-O will not snap or stretch out of shape.
Pony up with Pony-O
No more sagging and droopy ponytail from the weight of your hair. When you hold the Pony-O close to your head and shape it on each end (shown in detail below), your thick hair will stay up all day without fixing or redoing it!
Thick hair deserves painless ponytails
Hair ties hurt the scalp and damage your hair, especially when you tie it super tight with that last wrap. Or if you wear three. Seriously! If you have to wear more than one elastic to hold your hair, something is wrong!!! The Pony-O is larger in diameter than an elastic, so it will hold a LOT of hair! And it's easy to remove! Just open in back into a circle, and your hair slides right out. No more ripping out your elastic the whole length of your hair.
TIP: If your thumb, pointer finger and hair won't go through the Pony-O, gently moving it through the circle shape, your hair might be too thick for the original version. We currently have a Pony-O for thick hair on the drawing board. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Zero damage, zero creases, perfect for thick hair
If you have thick hair, chances are it gets massive creases from your super tight hair ties. Pony-O won’t crease your hair like elastics. You only feed the hair through the Pony-O once, not back and forth through an elastic band. Because of this genius design, your ponytail is never constricted, which is where most damage and breakage comes from. Open the Pony-O back into its circle shape, and it slides right out. No more hair coated elastics!
Here is step by step instructions for creating a basic ponytail with Pony-O:
Place ONLY your index finger and your thumb in the Pony-O.
Pull your hair through the Pony-O, and hold it close to your head.
Let go of your ponytail, and hold the Pony-O with both hands. Squash the Pony-O completely flat.
Using your thumbs, individually bend the corners down. DO NOT bend the Pony-O ONCE IN THE MIDDLE! It will not hold, especially in thick hair! If you want a tighter hold, bend the ends down more.
Because the Pony-O is so unique, there is a bit of a learning curve, especially when you're first learning to use it on thick hair. Don't get frustrated if it doesn't work the first time!
We hope that you’ll give your thick hair a break from all your hair ties and give Pony-O a try. Order yours here. Questions or comments? We'd love to hear from you!
TIP: For a more secure hold, bend the ends a little more. If you pull on your ponytail to tighten it, that will open and loosen the Pony-O.
